What Teaching is to us as students
Every now and then though we recall in our minds someone who made a difference in our education. Someone who went above and beyond the standards of so called “normal” teaching, and did everything they could to accommodate to our ways of learning. These educators were more than just simple instructors in our lives, and we normally remember them for so much more than simply what they taught us. We remember the extra time and care that was given to us as students to see to it that we were given the best opportunity to succeed in life. We remember that little extra conversation at the end of class when we were having a bad day that really made us feel cared about and brightened our day. Not to mention we remember the fun and good times that these teachers brought to the learning experience day in and day out. Who now has taken up the call to be the teachers that we remember and cherish so well? What is it that sets these people apart from the rest of those involved in their profession and allows them to leave such a mark on our lives? I want to answer that very question, I want to delve into the teaching community itself and ask the opinions of teachers themselves what it is exactly, that they believe in their own minds, sets the precedence for being not only and excellent teacher, but an excellent educator. I want to see what it is that teachers strive to become, and why it is that only a select few don’t fall short of what is truly asked of them.
